Lemons have so many amazing benefits and it’s not just the juice. The peel is chock full of healing properties!
Here are 8 benefits:
1. A Mild Diuretic
Squeeze a few lemon slices and then drop them in to your water and you are on your way to reducing your bloat. Lemons are a mild diuretic that pulls off extra fluid.
2. Lemon does double duty cleansing your colon.
Drinking lemon juice with warm water every morning helps in maintaining the pH balance of the body.
3. Prevent Gas and Bloating
As a bonus, lemon juice helps to loosen the toxins floating around in your GI tract, relieve the painful symptoms that accompany indigestion, and even reduce the risk of burping and bloating resulting from excess gas production in your gut
4. The Lemon Peel is full of health benefits
Lemon peels contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself. It contains: Vitamin C, Vitamin A, beta carotene, folate, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
5. Helps Fight Cancer
Lemon peels are health rejuvenators in eradicating toxic elements in the body. Lemon peels help rid the body of carcinogenic elements. The peel consists of components known as salvestrol Q40 and limonene, which are known to fight against cancerous cells in the body.
Also, the flavonoids present in the peel are known to be effective when it comes to curbing the division of cancerous cells.
6.Helps Prevent Cancer
The consumption of lemon peel is known to be a preventive measure against development of various types of cancers including breast cancer, colon cancer, and skin cancer. A study revealed that consumption of hot tea with lemon peel has proved to be beneficial in preventing the development of cancer cells.
7. Improves Bone Health
Lemon peels have lots of calcium and Vitamin C. Consuming lemon peels will help prevent osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory polyarthritis, and other bone conditions.
8. Decrease Cholesterol Levels
Digesting lemon peels will help lower the LDL cholesterol, or the bad cholesterol through its polyphenol flavonoids. Vitamin C and vitamin P help in clearing the blood vessels, preventing, or minimizing the risks of developing conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetic heart disease.

Was this article on lemons? Someone gave me some and noticed are different type than purchased. Have just read that more vitamin C in the peel and found a book from online library w a recipe for preserved lemons. Quite amazing. Though are are I think in oxalic acid .
Thanks for tips Lynn! We would love to see a copy of the recipe that has the lemon peel.
Blended 8 entire lemons and peel. I put them in a picture and take a spoonful every night. Just like a slush without the slush. Just a quick note I’ve been doing this for a week and it seems to be doing some good I’m not sure what yet but it sure isn’t hurting me for now I’m not sure how long it will take for me to feel the real benefits problem the lemons

Wash eight lemons with vinegar well and let them dry. Cut eight lemons into four equal parts per lemon. Put in a blender and puree it seeds, skin everything, for 10 minutes.
To tell you truth it doesn’t taste to bad.
Interesting idea. Let us know if you keep this up and notice any changes.
Recently, I have been putting whole lemons (sans seeds) into a super-processor, the resultant “slush” is then mixed with water (sans sugar) for a refreshing and healthy drink – several times daily. Plenty of pulp present in the “slush”, I assure you.
Yes, it is good If the taste is too tart for your taste try adding a teaspoon (or more) of raw unfiltered honey.
Great information to implement for better health
Thank you
Sig Lane you can add a couple of dates take the seed out. 1 lemon 1 cup of water blend well.
Here is a delicious whole lemon recipe. I have this first thing in the morning to help my liver and kidneys stay clean.
Measure with your heart to taste:
1lemon*
12 to16 oz water
2 to 3 tablespoons extra virgin cold pressed olive oil
1/4 teaspoon Himalayan Salt
A few shakes of cayenne pepper.
Small pinch of stevia to taste. (If you don’t like stevia, peel an orange and add it without the peel).
In a blender, blend it well, and drink.
* Lemons are grown mostly on the side of roads in the US and are exposed to air pollutants of cars. So I wash/soak the lemon in vinegar, baking soda and water for five minutes before cutting it up to add to blender.
I also drink water and swish around my mouth because lemons are acidic so you don’t want to leave the mixture in your mouth after drinking.
To your good health!
By the way, be sure to use organic lemons. 🙂
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this!
I will try it!
Let us know how it goes and thank you for reading!
Just viewed an article on you tube by dr Eric berg. Interesting article on using blended whole lemons and the health benefits. Worth a try. I am a healthy 88 year old and eat no processed foods. Only fresh organic vegetables and fruits, my only meats are chicken breasts from free range chickens and wild caught Alaskan salmon. Also do intermittent fasting. Am blessed with good health and this diet keeps my blood pressure in check. I use fresh organic milk and make my own yogurt. Best yogurt ever. Strain it to remove whey and you have the best Greek yogurt ever!
Wow Mary! Sounds like you have a wonderful, healthy diet! We would love to hear how you make your own yogurt. Feel free to email us the recipe at admin@wholefrog.com
I blend the entire lemon, frozen blueberries and water. I drink it through a straw to prevent damage to my enamel from the acid. It increases my energy level and has improved my skin texture. Thus was a suggestion from Dr. Eric Berg DC on YouTube. He has some great advice on his channel on things to improve /maintain health.
I’ve just started doing the same thing! I too got the idea from Dr Eric Berg. I had my first whole lemon blended with blueberries today. I really liked it, despite it being the most sour thing I’ve ever tasted!
Add honey- delish!!!
thank you!
I make the same drink Maya. It is delicious. Keep it up.
After having covid I started noticing other issues I strted having. Not wanting to get trapped into taking meds for my issues I looked for natural remedies and started the olive oil, menon and honey concogtion which after a couple weeks I noticed I wasn’t using ice packs and pain killers for my arthritic knees. Years of discomfort gone.
I started using whole lemons to make a lemonaid with a little honey and blue berries for sweetner. Whata difference in my health issues. My Dr is really impressed with what Im doing. And its prefferable to beer on a scorching summer day
Interesting to hear, Randy. Could you share your recipe with us?
I found this on youtube the recipe is the juice of two lemons, 4 tbsp virgin olive oil and two tbsp raw honey and 1/2 cup hot water and mix it well. Let sit over night. take 2 tbsp every morning on empty stomach. Dont eat for 30 mins.
Thank you, Randy. Let us know how this recipe is working for you.
Do you refrigerate after letting it sit over night? Do you cover it?
Yes I’ve made the same concoction as well and I’ve had the same results as well, not having to keep taking the OTC meds wish is not good for my kidneys
Wow Deborah that’s great! Are you using lemon peels?
I’ve been using the whole lemon in my kale smoothie for one month. I have clearer skin and lots of energy.
I too have tried blending the whole lemons with half a cucumber with skin on. A glass of coconut water and some mint or ginger. I have chrones disease and I definitely feel this drink helps with digestion, bloating and bathroom issues. It also helps with energy levels. I’m delighted at the results of this drink. Jp
I blend sometimes the full lemon, or sometimes just have to lemon, but always with the peel and everything blended in and chug it down as fast as I can without having to sweeten it. I also rinse after that with my filtered water to keep the acid neutralize to avoid damaging my teeth. And you also are not supposed to brush your teeth until about an hour after you drink something that acidic. So just rinse with water will be fine. My skin looks clearer and younger even. I feel good and all my constipation issues are gone when I do this daily..
Just found a great whole lemon drink recipe! Blend 1 whole lemon, a dash of cinnamon, 3 dates, 1TBS honey, 1TBS olive oil, a splash of vanilla extract, a small piece of ginger (tip of pinky size is perfect) and 1.5 cups of water. Blend until smooth and pour over a ton of ice. @chloe.chapdelaine on Tiktok shared this recipe and it’s delicious!
thanks for sharing!
Same recipe and I absolutely love it. I struggle with vitamin deficiencies and this drink is helping me get more in than I was before.
I also rotate in different fruits bananas, watermelon, etc.
Cut whole lemon peel and all, put in a blender and then pour contents in ice cube containers and freeze!
You can add those ice cubes in a glass of water and drink it!
Tastes like a bitter lemon soft drink!
I consume a whole lemon 🍋 multiple times a week. I put a whole unpeeled lemon in the blender, spoon of evoo, spoon of honey, couple dates, dash on cinnamon and 3-4 oz of water then blend on high until smooth and creamy it’s delicious poured over ice.
I’m very happy I have been eating whole lemons naturally since I was a child. Yes, people did find me a bit odd for this, but I am happy to learn of the health benefits I have been enjoying this whole time and I always had a feeling this was the case. Milk gave me a stomach ache so I never drank it growing up, I wonder if I began eating lemon skins naturally seeking the calcium, who knows 🙂
Every day my partner and I drink the below recipe we found online. (on glowcation page on facebook) Its delicious!
